TECHNOLOGIES FOR LOW CARBON ECONOMY EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN LIBYA

The paper is designed to present role, relevance, trends, opportunities and new challenges facing applications of new technologies in education towards economy related education for sustainable development in Libya. It is part of a process for implementing comprehensive New Energy plan developed to create an energy‐focused youth jobs program to invest in youth that would help transform Libyan entire economy by capacity development in key smart areas in energy industry to help create new green jobs. It describes a strategy for the future curriculum design based on stocktaking exercise from the stakeholders and proposes an Action Plan towards sustainable livelihood by increased modernization, to improve the quality of graduates and to tackle global warming leading to imminent climate change. Role model of Libya based centers of learning and research for a) Low carbon economy, b) Monitoring and Risk Assessment of Hazardous Chemicals, b) Environmental Applications of Advanced Biotechnology and c) Climate Change and Sustainable Energy is briefly outlined to show that how the Best Practices Program forming part of such a strategy.
Finally the paper highlights that how the viable lessons learned from numerous initiatives are helping to provide new solutions to accelerate and streamline learning that applies recent low carbon technology, industry know-how and business essentials to provide new and effective blended learning products and programs to combat the impending impacts of global warming leading to climate change in Libya.
