Abstract:
In spite of the wide variety of resources our current educational system has, it is important to further strengthen students’ learning disposition. All, with the aim of developing autonomous learning skills throughout their lives, providing them with different ways to improve lifelong learning. First, the learning to learn competence involves a combination of concepts, attitudes and skills in terms of self-regulation. Besides, a learning disposition demands a proactive attitude towards learning, which allows students to apply a range of different thinking skills.

With that in mind, the aim of this research is to conceptualize a learning disposition, which involves finding the defining characteristics of both, disposition and competence, to create an instrument which allows us to assess students’ development. From here on, a rubric created based on two validated instruments is proposed; the first of them, a rubric about orientation of learning (Villa & Poblete, 2007), and the second, a questionnaire about thinking disposition (Ritchhart, 2015).
