Abstract:
The presented study summarizes the findings of an analysis of utilized technology, content and topics included in a sample of digital educational materials currently accessible from official repositories and platforms operating or subsidized by the Czech Ministry of Education. More than 200 digital materials designed by Czech teachers of English to suit the TEFL secondary education, each of which has been viewed from 1000 to 4000 times by other teachers of English, were evaluated. The materials in question were analyzed with respect to their design, their prospective inclusion in the lesson plan, their potential utilization of ICT in the process of their creation vs. in classroom use, and with reference to the Czech Framework Educational Program. The research results reveal that the analyzed materials present only a narrow variety of each of the studied aspects and underexploit the potential of ICT in the design and classroom use of the materials. The results also include recommendations suggested by the author regarding some measures to be adopted by institutions and professionals involved in the design and utilization of the digital materials in question. Keywords:
