Abstract:
The way workers are involved in their work can be reflected in their attitude to professional development, for example, participation in vocational trainings. In turn, the more the employee is involved, the higher the performance of an organization as a whole. Therefore, the aim of the article is to examine the relationship between the way vocational trainings are organized among lawyers, their quality and the involvement and performance of employees. In addition, the authors analysed the way the organizations function and determined their relationship both with the way trainings are organized, their quality assessment, and with the results achieved by employees. The authors conducted a pilot study (an original questionnaire was used) among knowledge workers from a legal sector employed in organizations operating in Poland. The survey involved a hundred respondents including lawyers with various specialties: advocates, legal advisors and tax advisors. The authors managed to construct a tool that initiates lawyers' self-reflection, necessary to enter the path of permanent self-improvement. The call for following this path in the opinion of the authors is crucial as far as achieving a deep professional commitment is concerned. Initially, the respondents expressed their willingness to change their attitude towards vocational training. The lawyers began with constructive self-criticism and they signalled the need to receive feedback after a completed empirical research. It gives them an opportunity to build and then implement a program to continuously improve their personal approach to developing professional competence. Eventually, the pilot study revealed the necessity to continue exploration of the problems addressed by the authors.
