Abstract:
The educational system in Germany is based on a strictly organized lesson plan. As a consequence children and young adults have to adapt to the strictly organized schooldays and homework. In contrast to this, university is less strictly organized but the human or social factor is even less considered than in school. As a consequence, certain personality types are supported due to the structure of the educational system while other personality types might not fully unfold their whole potential within the system. Key4you is a key to the own personality structure based on the theories of Fritz Riemann and Carl Gustav Jung. It might be used to develop the own personality on the one hand side, and on the other side it can help to rethink the interpretation of the school system or to find learning methods suitable for students which have trouble with the educational system.
Key4you is based on the theory of four tendencies of personality placed on two axes, whereas each axis forms a contrast of two tendencies. Continuity and change, and closeness and distance contrast to each other. Thereby it is important to notice that each person unifies a certain amount of all tendencies within itself. The personality types might be classified in three main types, a clear type, a simple mix-type and a double mix-type. The clear type’s results have one main emphasis on both axes. The simple mix-type’s results have one main emphasis on one axis and equilibrium on the other one, whereas the results for the double mix-type have equilibriums on both axes.
All personality types have strengths and all are confronted with their own challenges. The idea of the personality key is to focus on the strengths and to give hints how one might deal with challenges occurring at regular intervals.
Within this paper, a more detailed explanation of the personality key is given; thereby the focus is set on the question how the personality might be used within school or university to enable the students to develop their whole potential. Besides those aspects, the personality key might be used as an instrument to help young people, struggling within the process of career decision making, to gain more clarity about their wishes. Keywords:
