Abstract:
This communication presents a design of the course Linear Algebra for Students of Engineering, according to the current trends in the European university. The goal of this methodology is to contribute with the technical preparation of the future engineer in finding solutions for a variety of standard problems which arise in the areas of production of goods and services, without neglecting its academic training.
Our approach basically consists in making emphasis in applications related to the specialty, with a major orientation toward the numerical matrix algebra and the computational language in general, so the course is prudently moved away from the traditional formalism of mathematics.
Throughout the ongoing of the subject it is developed an overall project with a strong experimental basis, in line with the profile of the student. The work to be carried out in the lab is mainly based on using tools of MatLab and/or Scilab (freeware).
