Abstract:
The modern educational process assumes taking into account interdisciplinary connections preconditioned by the interpenetration of various disciplines. Thus, it is impossible to learn a foreign language without considering historical facts and realizing their role in the development of the studied linguistic culture. The integration of a foreign language and history allows students to form complex objective skills: to reveal the meanings of concepts and identify the main features of the studied phenomenon through the use of foreign language tools, analyze and compare original historical sources, highlight the main idea in the text, express their own point of view using lexical and grammatical expressive means, use reference books, digital archives, etc.
A special place at a foreign language lesson is occupied by the work with periodicals reflecting historical facts, important events, which took place in the country of the studied language in one or another period.
This article presents peculiar features of representing historical materials at a foreign language lesson. These materials were published in periodicals of France, Italy and Russia (USSR) and cover the tragic period in history - the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 - and the role of the Urals in the victory. Based on the example of the events, which took place in the Urals during the war, students of South Ural State University do not only master their language and speech skills, but also learn to analyze historical material and its linguocultural specifics, enriching the knowledge of their region.
Working with the military press, newspapers and magazines of those years at a foreign language lesson allows students to learn about the cultural life of the Urals during the Great Patriotic War, the construction of the tractor plant in Chelyabinsk, the largest points of industrial evacuation in the Urals, and the natural riches of the region. Besides, turning to military-publicistic discourse does not only allow us to demonstrate to the students the linguistic components of this type of discourse, but also the contextual conditions for their use (i.e., reflecting the communication specifics in a particular situational context). Thus, the representation of historical facts is not just documenting of the past, but a way to see and analyze it. The representation, being the reflected reality, puts the audience in its framework, gives the opportunity to better perceive and understand new information. Keywords:
