Abstract:
Choosing the higher education institution and course to attend is an important milestone in the lives of young people. The factors that impact this important decision-making fall within the scope of organizational behaviour and personnel management, but also in human complexity and social factors.

This research work has as main objective to identify the factors that contribute to the choice of a young student now, he/she applies for military higher education and its selection by the different courses available. In addition to the analysis of secondary data, a questionnaire was designed whose target audience was all young candidates to the Portuguese Naval Academy, the Military Academy and the Air Force Academy.

After analysing all the data collected, it is expected to understand the main factors influencing the choice of military higher education, Naval Academy and the different courses it offers. This knowledge will allow, in the future, Naval Academy to align communication and dissemination methods and actions with its target audience for recruitment, making them more efficient and effective.
