Abstract:
Physiotherapy students at the University of Valencia have specific training in music that prepares them to offer physiotherapy treatment from a broader perspective and with more varied resources. The Educational Innovation Project UV-SFPIE_RMD17-587086 "Vocal Technique in physiotherapy training: adaptations from the Music Therapy classroom of the Degree in Physiotherapy" involved an approach to musical concepts easily extrapolated to the practice of respiratory physiotherapy. To this end, the students in training completed a questionnaire before and after completing the specific training in Vocal Technique, focusing on their expectations of its use in their respiratory physiotherapeutic proposals. Together with this, it was considered necessary to know their degree of satisfaction with the innovative educational experience and the importance they were able to attach to the work of the so-called "air column" by means of musical vocal techniques. The group of teachers participating in this experience was characterised by its interdisciplinary nature, with professionals from Physiotherapy and Music Pedagogy. The group of participating students consisted of 48 people. The exercises developed and the comments made during the process, as well as the different quantitative and qualitative results obtained at the end of the experience, demonstrated the need for this type of training not only as a working resource for profiles as varied as children and the elderly, but also as an essential working resource for every physiotherapist.
