Abstract:
Objectives:
The goal of this study is to understand the user experience and conditions of online teaching and learning in cohorts with the goal of continuous improvement. Since misconceptions or underestimation of certain experiences may have a negative impact on student learning, it is important to uncover these.

Methodology:
A survey was conducted in order to achieving a deeper understanding of educator and student experience at University. The same survey is given to both groups with some adjusted wording according to their roles. Participants were able to view results after submitting the survey. All data here is obviously anonymous and will be used to improve future online experience and share the overall results with the community.

Questions relate to the user experiences and touch on the following areas that have an impact on both teacher as well as student performance. The two surveys (teacher, student) are almost equivalent except for some small wording differences. They can therefore be directly compared to each other in order to highlight any potential differences and misconceptions, covering the following areas:
- physical fitness
- psychological fitness
- technical fitness
- learning/teaching fitness (lecture, workload, time management, exam readiness)
- social fitness
- ergonomic fitness
- some ideas and opinions for remedies

The list of the final 100 items in the survey that were rated from 1-4 (disagree strongly to agree strongly) was assembled in cooperation with students. The survey was answered by 84 students from two universities in Germany and Switzerland and 21 Educators from 5 univerisities in Japan, Russia, Germany, Netherlands and Egypt. In a final paper, the answers will be discussed in detail. In short, the following themes can be summarized.

Results:
Results from the survey show the following points an will support educators:
- Students listen to the teachers even if they don’t see or hear them,
- students appreciate teachers' efforts,
- educators should plan more breaks,
- educators should be sure to have a decent microphone, as the single most important tool for online teaching, and
- it seems that the educator evaluation will not suffer by going online suddenly due to Corona.

In addition, knowing the following facts should improve empathy between educators and students:
- Educators are probably suffering more from the Corona online semester than students,
- educators care/worry about their students' well-being,
- student equipment may be better than that of the educator,
- students can make educators very happy with regular “hmm”, “really?”, “cool”, “can you explain that more?” comments,
- educators actually worry about the exam more than the students (though both are more worried than usual), and
- while educators really like the camera, students are much more reluctant to use these and want privacy settings (maybe because educators have an office and the students have their bedroom)

Some findings were equally important to both groups, the most important ones being:
- Everybody is more tired than usual,
- eyes and back are hurting (and the agreement is that height adjustable tables would be helpful), and
- informal interaction should be supported by the online tool.

Conclusion:
The survey shows that both groups pursue the same goal of learning and share common problems.
We would like to share these results because emphathy and trust in each other will improve the experience for all.
