Abstract:
Every educator feels it, sees and hears it. We are teaching, students are learning, and administrators are leading in unprecedented times. We're facing accelerating change, unparalleled pressures, and overwhelming technology. We are seeing growing uncertainty about how competition for education funding will impact schooling as we know it. These are the forces that are flipping the education world upside down -- whether we are ready or not. Yet, despite the growing anxiety and concerns, we are living in the most promising times in the history of education.
These paradoxical times require every educator to master three pivotal skills:
- Pragmatism,
- Plain Talk, and a
- Pedagogy that puts “relationships” at the center of education.
Understanding and applying the three Ps are the big takeaways from this session, presented by one of the founders of Flipped Learning - Jon Bergmann.
For over eleven years, Jon has been helping educators who have intentionally chosen to turn their classrooms, school districts and education systems "upside down." Jon has traveled over 600,000 miles working with educators from the US to China, Spain to Brazil, Australia, Korea, Argentina, Iceland, India, Dubai and beyond. Jon has seen how mastering the three Ps empowers educators to navigate through the disruption of "the new normal" to transformation. Few people have more experience with the practical process of guiding educators through unprecedented school transformation than Jon Bergmann. In this session, he shares practical, actionable strategies, along with a roadmap in this lively keynote or workshop. Keywords:
