Abstract:
The authors of the article contributed significantly to the genesis of three educational portals designed for practicing secondary school mathematics – “Matematika s radostí” (msr.vsb.cz), STEM for Youth (stem4youth.eu), and Math for You (math4u.vsb.cz).

The portal Matematika s radostí (translates as The Joy of Math) contains 800 interactive tests, Puzzle games, Jeopardy and other educational games and Step-by-step worked out examples. All materials are in Czech only. The portal was created during implementation of the Czech national project supported by the Operational Program Education for Competitiveness in 2012-2015.

In 2016-2018 the authors participated in STEM4youth project which was supported by the Horizon 2020 programme. Project was focused on a popularization of STEM subjects among young people. Within the project the authors of this contribution created four different types of games to train mathematics. First two types are two-player games (50 Triangle games and 100 Jeopardy games) and the other two types are designed as single-player games (60 Funny picture games and 101 Puzzle games).

The Math for You portal was created in 2016-2019 as a part of the Math Exercises for You project supported by Erasmus+ programme. The portal exists in four languages English, Czech, Polish and Slovak and includes three main parts – the application Math for Student, the application Math for Teacher and the library Math for Class. The application Math for Student is educational software for practicing all topics of secondary school mathematics. Math for Teacher is intended particularly but not only for teachers. A teacher can prepare an interactive test or a tailor-made written exam by choosing any questions from the vast database. The applications Math for Student and Math for Teacher work with the database of over 4,000 questions in each of four languages - English, Czech, Slovak and Polish. In the section Math for Class, students and teachers find 150 interesting quizzes and educational games called “matching games” and “table-selection games”.

In the contribution the authors aimed to describe best possible use of materials included in the three portals mentioned above to learn and teach secondary school mathematics. The second goal is to track and to compare the website activity of the users of Matematika s radostí (The Joy of Math) and Math for You, i.e. the total number of users, the number of users from different countries and cities, the most used web browsers and operating systems, the most accessed topics of the secondary school mathematics (number of page views, number of downloaded materials) and the most used type of the material or application. This data was collected after the completion of the projects Matematika s radostí (August, 2015) and the Math Exercises for You (August, 2019). We used Google Analytics as a measuring tool.

The collected data (the most accessed topics of the secondary school mathematics) will be used during implementation of the Math Exercises for You 2 (2019-2022) project which is also supported by Erasmus+ programme.
