Abstract:
Sport is a social phenomenon that unites as well as divides, and its essence should be searched in distant past. An inseparable part of sport is a communication at various levels of social life, including sports diplomacy. If in the past sport was a means of communication, today it is no different, with a deeper reflection of sophisticated human perception in relation to the constitution of the philosophy of sports diplomacy.
The submitted study deals with partial analysis of the relationship between sports diplomacy and the achievement of social goals through the prism of communication as an expression of being, as well as building relationships and achieving social goals and objectives at various social levels. The basic method of data acquisition and processing is the method of studying literary sources. These form the basis for theoretical background and future methodology.
Sports diplomacy is an art that can be perceived from the point of view of the domestic political discourse of each country, as the diplomacy which responds to the current social and international political situation. By its very nature, sports diplomacy, as a means of communication, can be a part of the country´s diplomacy dealing with various issues from human rights to the protection of environment. It can directly or indirectly emphasize and point to the values of each country's national and international policy including freedom, democracy, gender equality, global warming, justice, etc. These values are closely related to globalization and thus they create basis for international agreements (CETA) important for Slovakia's economic relations with EU countries, as well as other countries in the world.
Sports diplomacy as a key to communicating new opportunities and challenges significantly contributes to the development of international relations.
