Abstract:
The academic research is a primary skill that university students need to master, which requires the adoption of different learning strategies to attain an effective academic outcome. The aim of this research is to study the impact of the teaching/learning approaches used in the information literacy course in order to see to what extent students acquire research methodology to achieve the course outcomes. We will discuss students’ research learning process involving the access to knowledge and the evaluation of personal skills. We will also focus on the research strategies, the library role and students’ collaboration with their peers, in order to assess their impact on students’ academic performance. To reach this end, we conducted a descriptive and parametric analysis to identify the research skills impact on students’ performance. The study showed remarkable improvements in students’ academic achievements together with noticeable changes in their learning competence.
