Abstract:
Modern changes in economic and social situation caused great changes in educational environment, lingo-didactic methods and approaches. Transformation of content, educational technologies, ways of assessment evoked modifications in interpersonal relations between teaching staff and students. These relations are developed in the frames of constructivism and collaborative pedagogy.
Nowadays a teacher cannot be considered as a source of information. Teacher and student communication in the contemporary educational environment is a cyclic mutual determination and their relative development. Education is not the transfer of knowledge from one person to another, but a two-way direction where both parties make effect on training and learning process. Such transformation causes the necessity teacher’s personal development not only as a specialists in a professional setting but as an individual with particular characteristics.

This paper is focused on the role of teachers/trainers/lectures in modern learning and teaching process, their personal traits and the students’ opinion on the teacher’s identity and its realization in the present educational environment in a Higher Education Institution.
