Abstract:
Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is a young Russian university but it has a high rank among universities of our country. It was founded in 1958. Now there are about 6,5 thousands of students in NSU. In 2009 NSU gained the status of National Research University.
NSU is situated in Academgorodok, not far from Novosibirsk. It is a scientific center with more than forty scientific research institutes. As a rule a lot of scientists of those institutes of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science are professors of NSU. This fact is the main feature of our university which determines the connection between process of education and scientific research.
Russian reforms of economy, policy and educational system had an influence on our university's life. During last twenty years we have had some changes which connected with the followings: 1) the structure (new departments have appeared), 2) the educational process (Bachelor and Master Degrees were accepted instead of Specialist Degree), 3) the approach in the methods of teaching (the reform of educational system have led to the weakening of analytical ability of nowdays young people; it should be taken into account). These changes and rise of competition among Russian universities cause to the increase of international activity.
One of the new big international projects of our university is entering in the consortium of the leading universities of former Soviet Union under the name «CIS Network University» (2009). This project is connected with the Master curriculum on Economics and Management. Last academic year there were 30 foreign students from seven universities of three CIS countries: Kazakhstan, Kirgiz Republic and Rebublic of Tajikistan.
It deals with a number of issues for the professors of our university's Economic Department as well as the Chair of Credit and Finance. We will consider three of them in our report:
1. It is necessary to unify basic programmes of financial courses. The foreign students had to study the same courses in finance or very close to them during the bachelor level of education. Otherwise it takes time for extra courses and classes for being successful in Master programmes in NSU. Another question concerns the Russian language. Some students have Russian classes to reach the appropriate level for academic purposes.
2. It is necessary to arouse student's interest in finance field by using different modern methods of teaching. It is urgent to deal with the practical examples, cases, tests, final course work and other material reflecting some special features of foreign student's native countries. Student's work without assistance is very important part of educational process too.
3. It is very important to take into consideration the specificity of national characters and to use the principles of the theory of intercultural communication. It needs for different aspects of professor's activity including an individual work as a scientific advisor. It is necessary to know some information about partner-countries as a national peculiarity of social and economic development, life and education level, some features of cultural wealth, relationship with Russia and so on.Keywords:
