Abstract:
The aim of this research is to examine the attitudes of high school mathematics teachers in the Republic of Croatia about lifelong learning. This research was conducted as part of the European project "Digitalna.hr", funded under the call "Thematic networks for socio-economic development and the promotion of social dialogue in the context of improving working conditions." Research sample included 443 teachers from Croatian high schools of various profiles and from different regions. The research was conducted using a specially designed online survey via software LimeSurvey, and the questionnaire consisted of nine groups of different questions. The results of the research confirmed the starting hypothesis: mathematics teachers in Croatia have a positive attitude towards the concept of lifelong learning. The research found that most teachers participated in some form of lifelong learning during their career, and that the most common reasons for non-participation were lack of time, ignorance and lack of interest. Also, it was found that mathematics teachers are most interested in those programs that offer further development of digital and communication skills, as well as knowledge about pedagogical methods oriented towards students with special needs. This research is a good starting point for future research on this topic - it highlights aspects of lifelong learning that are of great importance to teachers and topics that should be implemented in future lifelong learning programs.
