Abstract:
Technology has brought a revolutionary change in every field of life. The education process change and technological enlistment is visible in educational programs and events. After the critical analysis of the existing educational scenario, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) identified the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), literacy, education and human values as major thrust areas to make the teaching-learning system more reliable and dynamic. There is publication inflation on the internet due to easy access and fascination of interaction between man and machine. This rapid growth in diversification and dissemination of information by electronic means has the effect on keen awareness of the concept of information explosion and its qualitative exploration. This paper fulfills these requirements with context to intellectual information available on the internet. This paper aims to present the present status of quality criteria and also provide quality control guidelines for intellectual information accessible on internet. This was achieved by identification of certain quality criteria as content, object reasoning, scope, authority, workability and accuracy along with their indicators. A special evaluation tool was designed to access the quality of prevailing web pages. The collected data was analyzed based on chi-square test of significance. Further the quality control guidelines were provided for credible and authenticated intellectual information. Certain snapshots of web pages depicting the quality control guidelines in implemented form were also designed.
