Abstract:
The PLATON Whole-School Educational Model presents a coherent, research-informed pedagogical system designed to support active, meaningful, and developmentally aligned learning from pre-school to lower secondary education. Developed within the authentic context of a functioning school ecosystem, the model integrates philosophy, learning design, classroom practice, assessment, and school culture into a unified framework that ensures continuity and progression across age groups.
At the heart of the PLATON model is the intentional design of learning experiences through structured phases—such as connection, exploration, experimentation, application, and reflection—that promote cognitive engagement, curiosity, and deep understanding. Active learning forms the core of the model, with students engaging in inquiry, hands-on investigation, collaboration, and multimodal expression. These experiences evolve developmentally: sensory-rich exploration in early years becomes structured inquiry, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary projects in later stages.
Implementation is supported by consistent school-wide routines, flexible learning environments, and a culture of teacher collaboration. Assessment practices emphasise observation, performance tasks, feedback, and student reflection, supporting both understanding and learner agency. The model’s adaptability allows teachers to innovate within a shared pedagogical structure, promoting both consistency and responsiveness to learner needs.
First evidences from school-wide implementation (September to November of 2025) shows increased student engagement, stronger reasoning skills, improved collaboration, and sustained teacher professional development. By offering a replicable and future-oriented pedagogical system, the PLATON model contributes to international conversations on whole-school transformation and active learning ecosystems. Keywords:
