ICT TRAINING OF MATHEMATICS TEACHERS IN THE CONTEXT OF THEIR CURRENT EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Abstract:
Regularly conducted educational needs analysis of teachers is an essential aspect of innovation curricula realized by the Department of Mathematics, Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic). It also allows to respond flexibly to the demands of the “education market”, reflecting socio-economic changes in society and adequately incorporate educational modules oriented, for example in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Professional development of teachers and its transfer to their subsequent work.

This paper is focused just on selected aspects of training in the use of ICT for educational purposes and presents partial results of a survey that was focused on finding educational needs of mathematics teachers in continuing - lifelong learning.

The survey of 115 respondents - teachers of mathematics of elementary schools and high schools from Olomouc region was conducted on November 2015 through February 2016 and as a research instrument a questionnaire was used. The ICT part of the questionnaire consisted of 5 Likert scales and for the evaluation of items of the questionnaire were used instruments of descriptive statistics and nonparametric Mann Whitney U-tests.
