Abstract:
While the role and function of Human Resource Management (HRM) has been evolving over the past few decades, the impact of evolving technology has changed the direction of the workflow in this field, as well as many other segments of an organization. One of the key areas that HRM professionals handle is the managing of people, both internally and externally. Specifically, HR professionals recruit, select, hire, train, and process current and new employees for expatriate roles in overseas assignments for the organization. These roles are very important positions for an organization, and HR professionals need to make ensure that they have selected the right individuals for such assignments, as well as having equipped them with the proper training and technology to be used in their global assignments. During the past few years, the impact of Generative-AI, in terms of applications and tools, has provided HR professionals with a variety of avenues to approach their work in different ways and to consider other possibilities for processing different segments of the HR process. However, they also must keep in mind that sometimes candidates from the outside may be using AI tools for preparing resumes, which could contain possible irregularities, such as puffing of facts or even hallucinations. Thus, they must be diligent in their review of incoming resume submissions. This paper will look at the process of HRM in today’s business world, coupled with the use of technology such as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), as well as Generative-AI tools and applications. It should be noted that not all HR professionals are equipped with a working knowledge of artificial intelligence in the workplace; thus, this paper will provide an outline of procedures to help prepare an HRM team to become more acquainted with artificial intelligence and its applications in today’s modern HR office. Consequently, this paper will delve into the areas of artificial intelligent tools and various applications that can be used for the process of recruiting, selecting, hiring, training, and finally processing individuals for global assignments, as well as keeping them up to date with training needs during their assignments abroad. It should be noted that this will be a generalized approach and that, as this paper is being developed, more changes could be happening as we have seen many issued in various technological outlets from other vendors and application designers daily in some cases. Nonetheless, this paper will provide a beginning road map for many HR professionals to follow as they approach the tasks of staffing global assignments, spanning from recruitment to placement of expatriate employees, as well as enabling their own employees and HR departments with better tools to master artificial intelligence in today’s workplace.
