Abstract:
Parent together with teachers and students is one of the educational partners. Parental expectations are important to achieve children educational objectives as educational process is not only studying at the school, but also at home, travelling or spending time together.
Educational sciences have extensively studied the issue of educational partners expectations and factors contributing and promoting student learning achievements and factors that hinder them (Ferguson, 2003; Brenner & McRiticism, 2007). On the other hand, teaching expectations on the part of a parent or teacher indicate the level of knowledge that a student should achieve in terms of the prescribed expectations and in order to achieve the learning objectives pursued (Jussim & Harber, 2005).

21st Century Skills have been defined and introduced in Educational Curriculum, but are they similar to parental expectations about their children educational targets?

The aim of this study is to reveal and present possible contradictions and unifying elements for 21st Century educational skills and parental expectations, answering the question of the study - what is the relevance of parental expectations and 21st Century skills.

Several methods will be used to implement the study:
(1) theoretical literature analysis;
(2) analysis of educational documents;
(3) express -survey for parents (McDonald, Rosier, 2011) as data acquisition method;
(4) express - survey data analysis as data processing method using data identifying method by selected keywords (Tran, et al, 2017);
(5) relevance description, creation network mapping.

The planned results of this study will reveal the situation in Latvia educational system - from one side implementation of 21st Century skills in everyday school life process and contrasting parental expectations.
