Abstract:
In the proposed study, the authors focus on two dimensions of distance teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic in Slovakia. The first dimension is represented by basic theoretical knowledge and legislative background for the realization of distance teaching during the pandemic crisis in the context of repeated massive school closures in Slovakia. The second dimension of the paper is the empirical one, containing the results of a qualitative research. The research sample consisted of primary and secondary school students’ parents that were asked to participate in a questionnaire survey containing open ended questions investigating into their experiences with distance teaching during the pandemic crisis and its pros and cons from parents’ point of view. The presented research findings have the potential to contribute to increasing the quality of school - family cooperation and thus, the quality of distance teaching as well. Constructive feedback from parents, their recommendations, suggestions, and proposals can be useful for schools from the aspect of their development.
