Abstract:
In spring 2020, it came to massive school closures worldwide. The lockdown in Slovakia during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemics affected the work of all schools and school facilities in the country, as well as the everyday life of all students and their families.
In the presented paper, the partial results of a larger research within a project on distance learning during pandemics are presented. The authors carried out an investigation in an educational institution providing primary and secondary education, in which online teaching - live streaming - was applied for the purposes of ensuring students’ continuity of learning. Within the survey, questionnaires for teachers, students, and their parents were administered. Alongside with the questionnaire survey, participatory observation was used.
The findings show a general satisfaction with live-streaming lessons during school closures on the side of all stakeholders, but when making conclusions, a high degree of caution needs to be taken due to several factors, e.g. the obtained results cannot be generalized for the entire population; there are certain specifics of the participating school which can have an impact on the results, the participants had no previous experience with learning/teaching from home, etc.; but at the same time, the obtained information can serve as an example of good practice for other educational institutions and a source of inspiration for further research. Keywords:
