Abstract:
In the presented paper, the authors focus on the potentials of social networks and social media in recruiting new teaching personnel in educational institutions in the conditions of the Slovak Republic. They deal with platforms, which can be beneficial in the work of school managers not only when recruiting new teachers, but also in the process of building and developing positive relationships with the staff, students, their parents, and the school’s partners.

Although most schools are active on social networks and use them as a means of communication, taking advantages of social networks for the purposes of personnel management is a relatively new trend in their work. Not many of them publish blogs or videos offering job opportunities. Based on the above, it can be assumed that school managers’ objectives related to using social networks and social media differ. Social networks are a means of networking or establishing a network of relationships, and enhancing communication. Social media help to achieve a qualitative shift – increasing the public’s interest in the institution, attracting more followers or more supporters, gathering more data, recruiting well-qualified personnel, etc.

The authors of the paper also present the results of an analysis carried out as a part of a research on the potentials of social networks and social media in the process of recruiting teaching personnel in Slovak schools and offer a list of recommendations for educational institutions in this field.
