Abstract:
In the presented paper, the authors discuss the issues of using digital technologies and the virtual environment in university education in accordance with the needs, expectations and requirements of students, the majority of which belong to the so-called “virtual generation”.
The purpose of the paper is to point out the importance of the application of innovative trends in education and taking advantage of the opportunities offered by modern tools and digital technologies as it is generally accepted that modern technologies and teaching methods have the potential to make students’ and teachers’ lives easier and can increase the efficiency of the educational process.
The authors present partial results of a research on students’ satisfaction with their academic environment and their studies. They found a link between the participating students’ academic satisfaction and the provided opportunities to learn and to accomplish at least a part of their academic tasks in the virtual environment, even though not taking part in distance or online learning.
Based on the above, the authors assume that learning in the virtual environment and using digital technologies in general can motivate students towards learning, and make university studies more attractive for the virtual generation. Keywords:
