Abstract:
The mastery of English is currently considered inescapable to achieve the internationalization of students and improve their work expectations. This study analyzes the perspective of university professors in Experimental Sciences regarding the employment of English as a medium of instruction (EMI) in the classroom in order to facilitate its implementation in this field. The results were obtained through an online survey. Teaching load reduction, training provision and economic incentives are the incentives/aids most valued by the academic staff for teaching in English. The main difficulties encountered by the university professors using EMI in the classroom are related to the low level of English of the students and, to a lesser extent, to their own lack of command of this language. The results obtained show the importance of the available services in the University of Alicante (UA) and University of Miguel Hernández (UMH) for the revision/translation of teaching material.
