Abstract:
It is a well known fact that most of the information used by public administration is “stored” under various document formats, on both electronic and non-electronic (e.g. paper-based) mediums. In the context of the Digital Single Market and the Information Society an e-Document is defined as any document in electronic format containing structured data (and possibly also unstructured data) used in the context of an administrative process (ISA programme, 2014).

This paper will showcase both the implementations of various European projects within different public administration across the European Union and the importance of cybersecurity regarding digital data transportation in the context of national law, General Data Protection Regulation and other European Directives.Equally, achieving these goals is not possible without a program of awareness and education of the employees of the organization.
