Abstract:
In this article, the subject of research is the language training of foreign students in the implementation of joint educational programs which are one of the forms of international cooperation in the field of education.

The relevance of this study is due to the expansion of forms of international educational cooperation and the need for methodological support of language training of students enrolled in joint educational programs.

This study presents the experience of implementing a joint educational program of Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russian Federation) and Jiangsu Normal University (People's Republic of China).

In 2016, a Joint engineering Institute, created by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbSTU) and Jiangsu Normal University (CPU), was opened. The Joint engineering Institute currently offers the following bachelor's degree programs: design and technology support for machine-building industries, infocommunication technologies and communication systems, electronics and nanoelectronics, and design; and two master's degree programs: design and technology support for machine- building industries, and optics.

One of the most important problems that need to be solved when implementing joint programs is the language of training. As part of the joint educational program, Chinese students begin to learn Russian "from scratch" in a non- linguistic environment. In two years, Chinese students must listen to lectures on special subjects at SPbSTU and read educational literature in Russian. This task can be solved by organizing Russian language training, taking into account the communicative needs of Chinese students in the educational and professional sphere of communication. Special attention is required to create textbooks on the Russian language based on textbooks on special subjects in order to form students' professional competence using foreign (in this case, Russian) language.

The purpose of this study is to present a system of methodological support for the educational process when learning a foreign language for special purposes in the framework of joint educational programs. The following factors were taken into account when developing this system:
- requirements for the level of foreign language proficiency (in this case, Russian as a foreign language) in the educational and professional sphere of communication for higher professional education in a technical University under a joint educational program,
- communicative needs of foreign students in the educational and professional sphere of communication,
- requirements for modern textbooks on the language of the future specialty,
- peculiarities of studying Russian as a foreign language in a non-linguistic environment in order to continue education at a technical University of the Russian Federation,
- language features of the scientific style of speech of the foreign (in this case, Russian) language being studied,
- language-oriented approach to creating educational materials for the language of the future specialty,
- using the resources of the information and communication environment of partner universities,
- subject competence of Chinese teachers who implement Russian language training for special purposes.

The experience of language training of foreign students in the framework of a joint educational program proved the effectiveness of the proposed system of methodological support for the educational process.
