Abstract:
The presented article deals with the integration of educational content in the educational area of "Human and Health" and related thematic areas through the model of integrated thematic instruction. The project targets teachers of primary school who teach these areas.
The importance of the "Human and Health" area and related health-related topics is constantly increasing, especially due to the rising rates of overweight, obesity, and hypokinesia among children.
The above-mentioned areas intersect with the content of many subjects taught at the primary school according to the current revised curriculum document. Connecting the "Human and Health" area and thematically related topics with the model of integrated thematic instruction offers the opportunity to fully utilize the potential of integrating these areas not only in the subjects where they are primarily taught.
Much of the research focuses on the model of integrated thematic instruction and the possibilities of interdisciplinary integration of educational content.
The research is divided into seven phases. The first phase deals with the analysis of knowledge in the investigated area. The following phases concern the research, which will be conducted using a mixed design. The quantitative part of the research will use a research tool (non-standardized questionnaire) to examine the pedagogical reality of the selected areas and the possibilities of implementing integrated thematic instruction at primary school. The qualitative part of the research will focus on the analysis of school educational programs in primary schools in the investigated region.
