Abstract:
The presented article focuses on the possibilities of developing reading literacy in connection with the subject of physical education. Within the interdisciplinary relationships, various thematic areas are interconnected, in some cases even seemingly unrelated, in order to achieve the complexity and coherence of the acquired knowledge, skills and values of the pupils. The presented study is based on this idea. The student will not be literate enough if the individual literacy develops in isolation. Isolation is an effort to always focus on only one specific type of literacy (mathematical, reading, digital, movement). The study aims to point out the possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation in favor of the development of literacy - in this case, the development of reading.

Quantitative research in this area was carried out at the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc, through which the level of reading literacy of primary school pupils was ascertained at the level of text comprehension in the context of physical education. The research was focused on the area of reading comprehension and the results of a didactic test were analyzed, which focused on the topics and outcomes of physical education at the first stage of primary school in the Czech Republic.
