Abstract:
Learning idiomatic expressions (phraseologies) is a part of learning and teaching a new language. Phraseologies used by native speakers represent the richness of a particular language, allow for a deeper knowledge of a language and its culture. Good knowledge of idioms can guarantee that students would be better speakers and negotiators.
Social media is one of the basic and simple dissemination of information tools, that can be used by everyone who has access.
The world is globalizing fast so social media becomes more important part of people’s lives. There is seek to attract audience and affect reader by posted texts so influencers grab various stylistic instruments to create persuasive language. The idea becomes more connotative and expressive.
The foregrounding of the phraseologisms becomes valid by the transformation of lexical meaning, replacement and skipping of components or use of other modification. As a result text gains more attractiveness, is more easily adapted to the situation, the idea of the authors becomes represented more originally.
The aim of this research is to analyse phraseologisms in accounts of social media platform “Facebook”, and identify essential idioms used in the language of influencers. The reasearch sheds light on the concept of foregrounded phraseologisms, indicates features of occasional phraseologisms, investigatse modification of occasional phraseologisms.
The research methodology is based on the stylistic analysis, phraseological stylistics and the theory of foregrounding. The research reveales that influencers mostly used types of phraseologisms modification is inversion of idiom, replacement of idiom components and transformation of meaning. Keywords:
