Abstract:
Technological development, changes in the modern world and changes in the labor market require constant updating of the approach to teaching students. This applies especially to students of computer science, where practical education is particularly important. Implementation of projects with the use of IT tools, enriches the student not only with knowledge, but most of all with important practical skills - required and sought by employers. The electronic economy is a dynamically developing area in the world of computer science. Therefore, students of computer science learn the basics and modern techniques of electronic economy in the course: Fundamentals and technologies of electronic economy. The WordPress system is used during the classes in order for students to acquire practical skills in creating web systems, their positioning and implementation. Thanks to WordPress, students design, implement and deploy a web application. During the classes, they carry out design tasks aimed at identifying and solving problems, defining requirements (including business ones), specifying functionalities and striving to create a fully useful and accessible website. At the same time, the design form of the laboratory allows for quick verification of the student's practical skills and easier correction of possible errors.
This article presents the practical aspects of using WordPress to solve tasks in the framework of the subject: Fundamentals and technologies of electronic economy. The objectives of the subject are indicated, learning outcomes in terms of knowledge and skills, the program content of laboratory classes carried out in a practical form - project tasks are presented. In addition, the method of using WordPress to develop practical skills in the field of, for example: network analysis, website optimization, positioning, cooperation with other tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console) was described. The errors, difficulties and problems that students encounter during the implementation of their projects - from WordPress, hosting or additional tools were indicated. Examples of case study tasks related to threats and attacks on Internet applications are also given. Additionally, feedback from students was provided on how they rated the project approach and how it influenced their acquisition of practical skills. The students' conclusions confirmed the validity of practical education through projects, and the use of WordPress - to understand the issues of electronic economy along with the acquisition of specific skills, for example: creating and implementing business applications, positioning, desktop / mobile optimization. Keywords:
