Abstract:
This study aimed to assess the extent to which members of the deans' council at Jordanian private universities engage in their roles to achieve their goals. Data were collected through a questionnaire using the descriptive survey method. The sample comprised 97 deans selected purposefully. Analysis of the data showed a high degree of practice among members of the deans' council in fulfilling their roles.
According to the Jordanian Universities Law (No. 18 of 2018), Article 16, the Board of Deans consists of the President of the University as the President of the Council. Its membership includes vice presidents, deans of academic colleges, deans of scientific research and graduate studies, and deans of student affairs. Deans of colleges are appointed by a decision of the Board of Trustees after being assigned by the university president. The appointment is for two years, renewable once, and for those with the rank of professor.
Accordingly, this study answering the following two questions:
1. To what degree do members of deans' councils in Jordanian private universities carry out their roles in accomplishing university goals, as perceived by them?
2. Are there statistically significant differences, at a significance level of α = 0.05, in the assessments provided by the study sample members regarding the extent to which members of deans' councils in Jordanian private universities fulfill their roles in achieving university goals based on study variables (gender, and years of membership)?
The results revealed no statistically significant differences in relation to gender, and years of membership. Keywords:
