Abstract:
The article deals with the barriers at the educational prospects of the child from large families. Based on the theoretical base and empirical research in Russia and Western European countries, the authors come to the conclusion that there is a dependence on the order of appearance and obstacles to obtaining high-quality and extra-family education for children who were born third and subsequent in large families. The research question is what factors influence the occurrence and removal of restrictions in the educational opportunities of children from large families.

Research methods:
Analysis of statistical data, documents, content analysis of Internet resources, analysis of secondary sociological data.

The results of the study:
Children born third and subsequent in large families are forced to put more effort into advancement and self-identification, their ability to get quality education in a family or extra-family forms are much lower than the first children’s or children’s living in “small” families.

One of the most important factors influencing the emergence and removal of barriers to the education of children from large families is household income. It determines the possibility of obtaining high-quality pre-school, school and additional education, as well as the possibility of homeschooling and attracting specialists for it. Another factor in removing barriers for children in this category may be the help of actors interested in large families (government agencies, non-profit and charitable organizations).
