Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study of the professional plans of university students in a large industrial region. The purpose of the study was to identify the problems of integration of student youth into the social and labor sphere, considering the peculiarities and challenges of the modern labor market, such as the active spread of digital technologies, the consequences of the pandemic. The survey of students from 13 universities in the region was conducted online in the spring of 2021. The Survey Monkey service, designed for the development and conduct of online surveys, was chosen as a platform for research.

The sample population was 2000 people. Quotas were determined according to the following socio-demographic parameters: gender and educational profile of respondents-humanitarian, engineering, socio-economic and natural science areas of education.

Almost all respondents had an idea about the problems that they would face in the near future: about the ways of employment, the requirements of a future employer. It was revealed that most of the students had certain plans for their professional future. Half of the respondents chose the status of an employee according to the educational profile, some of them chose the status of self-employed, the rest were planning further education in a master's degree. At the same time, it was found that a significant proportion of university graduates were left to themselves while choosing a place of work, which significantly reduced their chances of choosing a suitable place of work. Conclusions were drawn in the actualization of the development of the employment institute of university graduates and the importance of supporting meritocratic principles of obtaining a job to reduce social differentiation among young people.
