Abstract:
The educational process is multidimensional and requires an attention because if we fail to supply the mind with the skills needed in a world of culture, we will undermine our culture, Bruner says. Ιnternational trends, education models, alternative approaches and critical analysis have developed over time aiming to supply the mind with the necessary knowledge and skills.
The research on school effectiveness (school effectiveness research - SER) claims central position to the debate on education in a global context. School effectiveness and improvement research is characterized as a dynamic field of study with growing international prestige ∙ prestige guaranteed by the focus of the field to the study of factors affecting the performance of students and by research procedures at school and classroom level, which seem to support better learning outcomes, while researching the role of comparative studies in different international contexts.
School improvement was defined by the International School Improvement Project - ISIP as the systematic and persistent effort which aims at changing the learning conditions and other related internal conditions in one or more schools in order to achieve educational goals more effectively.
In the context of research on school effectiveness and improvement the conjunction of effectiveness and quality in education is for us the desired and desirable. So the research is addressed to all people directly involved in education: teachers, principals, students, parents,
Thus, the goal of our ongoing research is to highlight the factors that contribute to positive acception of learning process on the part of students and degradation of the elements hindering the upgrading of the quality of the learning process with the aim to link quality and effectiveness, connection which we consider as the challenge to the modern Greek school.
In particular, the structural parts of the questionnaire in which teachers respond, (Creemers, B. & Kyriakides. L. (2012).
Improving quality in education: Dynamic approaches to school improvement. London and New York: Routledge Taylor & Francis Group, pp. 278-287) are checked:
a) good use of teaching time,
b) the provision of learning opportunities
c) teaching quality through the comparison of the answers of both parts, teachers and students.
The questionnaire addressed to students is Classroom life measure (Johnson & Johnson).
In addition to showcasing the factors that contribute to the positive acceptance of learning processes and control of structural parts, our aim is to listen to the voice of teachers, principals, students and parents and through this to clarify their opinion for the operation of their school unit. The research is conducted in primary and secondary schools in Greece which allows us to compare the results. Keywords:
