Abstract:
Volunteer fire brigades play a crucial role in the safety of municipalities. Their professional competence has a profound impact on the effectiveness of interventions in the event of a fire, technical intervention, or other emergency. The basic level of professional competence is mandated by legal regulations. Members can further develop their knowledge and skills through vocational education and training. This article delves into the possibilities of training volunteer firefighters to enhance their ability to handle emergencies effectively. Based on the analysis, areas of concern in education were identified. Drawing from these findings, measures were proposed to bolster the efficiency of the educational process. Insufficient professional competence among firefighters can lead to mishandling and mismanagement of emergency events, potentially resulting in personal injuries and property damage. The effectiveness and safety of firefighting units are directly proportional to the level of their professional competence. Members of voluntary fire brigades ought to possess high-quality knowledge and skills necessary to conduct firefighting operations.
