Abstract:

The article deals with the issue of voluntary fire brigades within the scope of establishment of the local territorial self-government. The coordination of individual rescue units in the conditions of the Slovak Republic is covered by a basic legal regulation. In it, the position of volunteer fire brigades is included among other rescue services. Currently, the fire brigades are experiencing development, both in terms of legislation, organization and finance. Professional training of members is aimed at achieving the knowledge, skills, physical fitness and habits necessary to perform individual activities. These relate to fighting fires and performing rescue work in various emergency situations. The basis of training for members of volunteer fire departments is important to review to identify safety practice issues. This will lead to the expansion of the theoretical and practical part of the basic training of members of the fire department.Practical experience based on safety research and trends will also be evaluated.
