Abstract:
Nowadays, all the big companies aim to streamline their processes and expand into new markets in order to attract as many customers as possible. The way to attract new customers is by developing new products and solutions that meet their needs in a shorter, simple and more efficient way.

In order to be competitive on the market, the companies are adapting their systems, procedures and organizational structure.

This case study is presenting, from an educational point of view, how it has been possible to change the entire IT architecture infrastructure of one big company whilst simultaneously changing the work procedures as well as the organizational structure in order to support the global vision of the company. The methods used in the current study case can be tailored and applied on all types of projects, starting from simple projects to complex projects applicable to any field of activity. The transformation is based on the implemented methods. Through their flexibility to be changed, they become ways in which they can be implemented with success in others projects in order to reduce the implementation time and the costs.

Also, during periods of change, challenges such as people resistance to change, analysis and redefining workflows and replacing existing systems with new complex systems have to be managed.

The methods used to achieve the transformation were to analyze the old systems, to propose new solutions for the business processes in order to be redefined with the scope of simplifying the processes or mapping the solutions on the processes that cannot be changed, to analyze the compatibility of the systems, to make performance tests in order to create a baseline (to assess the parameters of how and where the performance has been increased by using the new systems), to integrate, to test and to validate all the technical and software solutions.

As a result, the dynamic transformation of the IT architecture infrastructure implies the creation of a dynamic and complex integrated system.

This paper presents the methods used and the results obtained with regard to how an IT transformation architecture has been made in the context of a multinational company in which resistance to change has been a major problem.
