Abstract:
The types, content and forms of academic mobility of students are determined by its purpose and objectives. Traditional view is based on the definition of academic mobility in primary sources, documents of the Bologna Process. Following this approach, academic mobility is an exchange of students between countries in order to improve the quality of education, exchange experience, overcome academic isolation and acquire scientific prospects. However, there also exists a narrower understanding of the term ‘academic mobility’. Studying academic mobility one should take into account various parameters: full-time, part-time, virtual mobility; mobility of teachers, students, graduates; educational, research, scientific mobility. During the period of covid, virtual academic mobility of students has become utterly significant. We see virtual academic mobility as the opportunity to study using distance and telecommunication technologies in one university using the resources of not only one's own university, but also other universities. This is a slightly updated understanding of academic mobility. One should note though that in general, academic mobility is understood as a form of student exchange. During the period of covid and online learning of students, the volume of work of a university teacher significantly increases and it is in these difficult conditions that the use of virtual academic mobility helps not only maintain the proper level of quality, but also improve it.

The article attempts to solve to following tasks: the definitions of the concept of academic mobility were analyzed in order to identify aspects of its consideration in scientific and educational literature; identified the components that this concept includes, the distinctive characteristics of the concept; an attempt was made to identify the structure of academic mobility, its functions, to determine the place of the concept among other concepts; the requirements, conditions, methods of its use in the process of teaching students are determined as a guarantee of the quality of teaching the features of virtual academic mobility are considered.

The theoretical and practical significance of the study is to describe the virtual academic mobility of students during the covid period from the standpoint of its educational potential in order to improve the quality of education.
