Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to analyze the problem of the formation of IT competence while teaching school students at the present stage. The article is aimed at solving the following tasks: the definitions of the concept of IT competence were analyzed in order to identify aspects of its consideration, the components that this concept includes, key features: An attempt was made to identify the structure of IT competence, its functions, to determine the place of a concept among other concepts: The requirements, conditions, methodology for the formation of IT competence of school students at the present stage are determined.

The material for analyzing the formation of IT competence of school students was scientific, methodological, reference sources, as well as school curricula.
In the process of working on the topic, the following methods and techniques were used: descriptive, distributive, interpretive, analysis of theoretical material.

The theoretical and practical significance of the study of the formation of IT competence of school students is unconditional. At the present stage of development of society in the process of school education mere accumulation of knowledge in subjects is ineffective. Unclaimed, often inadequate, one-sided knowledge does not bring the desired result, and information can also become outdated. A student not only needs to be given certain information, but also be taught how to obtain the necessary information on their own, to systematize it, to critically reconsider it, taking into account their goals and needs. In this regard, the problem of the formation of IT competence of the younger generation arises. In the conditions of the modern information society and the constantly increasing, updated volume of information, this problem is the most urgent.
