Abstract:
Secondary school teachers are in a position to not only control the school environment in which cheating occurs but also to a large extent create it. Students are influenced by their personality traits, but also by the activities they perform in the classroom. An important role in cheating is played by the teacher's attention to the students when they check their knowledge. Teachers have an educational effect on students and their role is to make students more familiar with the functioning and importance of assessment as a means of getting feedback. The teacher's attention, teaching style, expertise, fairness, and overall teacher-student relationships affect the dishonest behavior of students in schools.
The author of the study carried out research to determine the possibilities of regulation of school cheating of secondary school students, which was carried out at secondary schools in the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic, and Poland. The author investigated and then analyzed the opinions of teachers on the possibilities of elimination of school cheating. A total of 387 secondary school teachers participated in the research. Of this number, there were 319 teachers from the Slovak Republic (82.43%), 45 teachers from the Czech Republic (11.63%) and 23 teachers from Poland (5.94%). In the research we used the following research methods: analysis and synthesis of knowledge from literature; questionnaire method - to find out the opinions and attitudes of teachers on school cheating and mathematical-statistical methods of evaluation of research results. Analysis of testimonies of research respondents, who are the teachers from the Slovak Republic, cheating and teachers are looking for ways to eliminate and regulate this unwanted effect in schools associated with screening and assessing students performance. We also summarized the most effective ways of solving cases of school cheating. The main findings can be: secondary school teachers are inclined to more strongly apply direct preventive strategies (this is to set solid rules that students have to follow during the examination) and to a lesser extent support indirect preventive strategies (based on the development of learning skills).
The envisaged vision for the near future is based on the need to develop a coherent, comprehensive and systemic strategy that unequivocally condemns cheating, unites teachers' practice of eliminating school cheating with the student, stating that school cheating is contrary to moral and ethical behavior. The teacher should be proactive in the possibilities of cheating students, so we recommend developing students' knowledge and knowledge of school cheating, plagiarism, which potentially eliminates school cheating. We can inspire abroad, where the so-called honor code, what is a certain affidavit of a student not to cheat at school. Abroad, there are also so-called student-run honor boards, the existence of such a committee shows that the students themselves and their expectations for classmates' behaviour play a major role in minimizing school cheating. Keywords:
