Abstract:
Assessment of knowledge, skills and competencies of students is the part of educational process at secondary school. An evaluation provides a teacher an opportunity to rate the level of students´ knowledge since it assesses their achievements, skills and competencies acquired by learning a particular subject. A teacher should pay a constant attention to the quality of students´ achievement assessment as it emphasises a pedagogical reasoning and performance. Cheating from the side of a student is something that a teacher encounters quite frequently when examining and assessing. Besides being a malpractice, cheating misrepresents the effectiveness of teaching methods and eventually the overall outcomes of the educational process. When assessing, a teacher should retain the external signs of his professionality and authority, rather he should mingle the very substance of these attributes with a partner approach towards a student. The motif beyond that function is to develop student´s personality. The study is focused on detecting the occurrance of dishonest behaviour of the students during the testing process, at secondary schools in Slovak Republic, Czech Republic and Poland.
The proposed study originates from the theoretical analysis of the issue of school cheating from the point of view of morals and ethics, and it feeds on empirical research as well. The research results were analysed and compared, and consequently formulated for school praxis. We used the following research methods: content analysis of the existing literature; the quantity method of gathering data by the medium of a questionnaire with nine closed questions (statements) and statistical methods for data processing. The subject of research was to find out the extent of school cheating in Slovak republic and in the other chosen states of the V4 group (i.e., Czech Republic and Poland). The research focused on analysis of opinions of secondary school students on school cheating. Out of the total number of 905, there were 388 male (42,3%) and 522 female students (57,7%). 622 students were from Slovakia (68,73%), 155 students came from Czech Republic (17,13%) and 128 students were from Poland (14,14%). The authors of research, focused on analysing the ways of cheating from the perspective of students and they also presented the recommendations for the school practice. As a vision of a close future there is a need to create united complex and system strategy which would unambiguously reject cheating and would unite teachers in process of elimination of school cheating. Keywords:
