Abstract:
Faculty of Applied Technical Sciences in Ferizaj is academic part of the University of Prishtina. Its objectives are advanced studies and scientific researches in applied academic disciplines of Mechanical Engineering with Artificial processing of plastic materials (plastic masses) program, and wood design program with study profiles: Furniture design and wood technology.
Academic studies of the Faculty are concentrated in Bachelor studies with practical work, based on concept of European Universities for Applied Sciences. The curriculums are based and implemented according to Bologna Declaration Process, where every course is estimated on credits attained by student. The number of credits and individual work is presented on the table of curriculum of corresponding departments.
Both departments (Mechanical engineering and its design and wood technology) semesters lasts 3 years, respectively 6 semesters. Studies in 6th semester are concentrated on practical work and they ends with diploma thesis. Untill the graduation a student must have collected minimum of 180 ECTS credits.
The Faculty’s aims are concentrated on country’s workforce needs, training, and continues study of professionals all the time (life long learning), giving the best offers for local business partners.
Our goal is to create two institutes (one for Mechanical engineering and other Designing and wood technology), where besides teaching to students there will be possibility to generate self-funded revenues for Faculty and also for University of Prishtina. This would be done by examination, expertise, and other research activities with the private and public sector. As part of the Advanced Education system in Kosova, the Faculty will advance the knowledge, ideas and science for the purpose of equipping the future workforce in applying their gained know-how in practice.
Practical work in the Faculty should support and create advanced standards in scientific researches in order to generate self-funded revenues, having effective cooperation on studies in national, regional, and international level, adapting to international standards, and finally integration to European Higher Education, which is represented by European Community.
The mission of our institution is that alongside teaching, is to have good cooperation with local and international partners, through mobility of students and professors by utilizing teaching and learning resources, comparing with local economical needs and gradual advancing of teaching quality.
Profiles that are operating in our Faculty are unique, very attractive with a perspective for future employment, based on natural recourses from wood and forest quantity in the region of Ferizaj and Kosova, metal industry and others.
