Abstract:
University of Pristina was founded in 1970. Faculty of Applied Technical Sciences in Ferizaj is the only institution of higher education in Kosovo, which provides for approximately 35 years for Kosovo students and beyond, the study opportunity in design and interier and timber technology and machinery - processing of plastics material, while this year will offer for students study in the field of industrial management. The three programs are accredited by the Accreditation Agency of Kosovo.

Based on the expertise of the institution and the results of collaboration with experts from the industry, with relevant governmental and civil institutions and cooperation with Western universities, we are offering studies which meets the highest modern requirements. Preparation of these programs is largely the result of cooperation and joint work with the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria for almost two years. The new curriculum of study which have undergone substantial changes resulted with and accreditation of our programs for a longer period of time compared with the previous accreditation process.

We would like to emphasise that wood is one of the most important resources of Kosovo, while plastics constitutes in one of the most important elements for the development of our country.

This new offer provides students to build new competencies by combining scientific and technological knowledge to the interior, wood technology, processing of plastic materials, management of enterprises, knowledge communication and creative work. Further, during their study, a special time will also be devoted to building management competences, such as project management, working in groups (team work), but also the scientific work (methods and application). Working on projects since the early studies, encourages student to learn early from practical work, a fact which makes these practical projects much more complex and more interdisciplinary in higher semesters of study.

The purpose of this projects based plan of studies is that overall teaching process is as close as possible to current industrial and scientific practices and analysis of all these practices in the economic context.

Completion of the professional subjects with subjects from economics, management and languages, ensures that graduates from this study program build, in addition to professional competence, other competencies needed for their professional life. One thing that makes these graduates more interesting not only for the regional labour market, but much broader, is the fact that the curriculum are fully compatible to the programs delivered at the Universities of European Union countries. As such, the graduates will have all of the so-called "professional, managerial and European competences" with which they can access the international labour market.

Employment opportunities for graduates of this course of study are numerous ranging from manufacturing and processing plants, to the design and project companies, or the companies providing services such as quality management, environmental management, etc..

Students who are set for these professions, not only qualify for very good positions in the international labour market, but they will also committed an ecological natural resource, which is growing more and more every day and which offers an enormous creative potential.
