Abstract:
The aim of the higher education reform both in Hungary and in the European countries is establishing a competitive higher education system focusing on practical formation during the Bachelor-studies. Based on the new regulation and in accordance with “Bologna process”, students in Hungary spend their last semester of bachelor studies at different companies to utilise their theoretical skills in practice.

In the following paper we would like to show the Hungarian legal environment and the financial aspects of this special semester. We introduce one of the most initiative model, which was established at the University of Debrecen. In this newly developed model higher education institutes and business units, companies can cooperate effectively, because of the well-established organisation structure. We highlight the key role of universities and companies, and we demonstrate, how students can develop their practical skills efficiently during the semester. We represent that a solid criteria-system can contribute a lot to the development of students, and we determine the most crucial factors of a long-term cooperation between universities and companies.
