NEW TRENDS TO COORDINATE ACTIVE TEACHING PRACTICES AND LEARNING BY DOING PROCESSES IN INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT: THE FDE ETHICS WEEK

The CEFDEE is a student’s association born in the context of a teaching innovation project in the Faculty of Economics of the University of València. It is intended to work as an active learning environment for undergraduate students. The students defined the association’s mission as follows: “to spread ethics in the Faculty of Economics (University of València) and to raise awareness among the students about responsible behavior, that are the foundations of well being and sustainable development”.

The article revises the organization of a cycle of academic and cultural dissemination activities including conferences, workshops and ludic events around ethics. It’s presented as an innovative way of attracting bachelor students and members of the academic community to jointly reflect on the theoretical framework behind ethics and its importance nowadays; applying it to everyday situations, both in the professional and the private sphere. Its value as active teaching tool is that it has been designed by students and its implementation is driven through a meticulous and non-intrusive following-up by a team of trained professors.

Along this paper, firstly, organizational and strategic planning of the teaching strategies will be disclosed, giving an in-depth roster of the activities to be held with its international connections. Next, interest will be focused on the organizational activities developed by the leader team of students and the way they have become mentors of the next incoming students of the FdE Ethics project.

Later on, impressions on how it’s developed and a critical view of improvements to be made will be assessed. Conclusion will include a relation of the benefits that provide this type of academic strategies, giving special relevance to students’ evaluation after participating.
