Abstract:
"You can only really learn something if you like it" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, an outstanding German writer and philosopher, used to say. It is essential to remember that if teachers set a correct pattern and create student-friendly educational environment, their students obtain headway quicker and develop new skills with a smile and positive attitude. Language-oriented students of younger age (schoolchildren, college applicants) need more structure and conscientiousness in studies, so special attractions have to pave the way to the students' brightest future. Speaking about linguistics, the basic motivators are various translation contests and conferences. The contests can bring true challenges and early translation competence to their participants.
The policy of our Higher School of Translation and Foreign Languages (Institute of International Relations in Kazan Federal University) is to include translation contests for senior schoolchildren and students into our agenda at all times. From year to year the number of translation contest participants from schools is growing. So how does a contest influence one's motivational platform? We are ready to share our translation contest organization experience with colleagues worldwide. Keywords:
