Abstract:

The scope of this paper is to demonstrate the interdisciplinary and trans-institution cooperation which is gathering university and design related institutions to transfer ideas, creative thoughts and technology in the field of design. Silesian June of Design project was created by the union of institutions whose common goal is to create conditions for the development of design creativity disseminating the use of design services in everyday life. It was established in 2014 and its main target is to make not only the professional environments including industry but also a wider group of receivers familiar with the concept of design as well as to encourage the implementation of innovation through design.

The project Silesian June of Design is based on a cooperation of the most important institutions in the Silesian region (Poland) involved in design and art. There are eight partners in this project: The Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw, Silesian University of Technology – Faculty of Architecture, University of Opole - Art Institute, Castle in Cieszyn, Gallery of Interiors DOMAR, The Opole Contemporary Art Gallery and Dobroteka.

Due to the action of Silesian June of Design organizers and partners want to zoom good design to the public during more than 30 events. In June, an explosion of combined initiatives in the field of design is observed in Lower Silesia, Upper Silesia, Opole and Cieszyn Silesia. Events like Night with Design, Good Week of Designer, Vision of Relaxation, Sweet Foto with Design and many others are open to the public. New joint projects are also initiated. During the whole month of June numerous exhibitions, presentations, workshops, competitions, film screenings, lectures and even outdoor sculpturing take place.

Silesian June of Design creates not only the possibility of cooperation for its partners but also opens up new areas for implementation of design and improvement of the functional and aesthetic quality of human environment by creating conditions for the development of design creativity which is socially useful.
